We’ve already given you the skinny on your skin but now we want to talk about mommin’ and your skin.

You see, as children, we have our parents to make sure that we have sunblock on, and when to come inside when we’ve been out for too long. Then we became teenagers, and well, we kind of focus on getting as tan as possible and it goes downhill from there.

Who is making sure that we are taking care of our skin now?

Our skin might be the human body’s largest organ but it could also be the most neglected.

What Mom Life Does To Your Skin

Pregnancy does lots of crazy things to your body (including making a baby) but here are some that involve your skin:

  • Acne. You read that right, some women will experience their own type of glow and that includes some extra blemishes.
  • Varicose veins. Hormonal changes and extra pressure on your veins can cause them to enlarge. They generally improve without medical treatment 3-12 months after delivery. Some of us are still waiting for that to happen.
  • Stretch marks. Most commonly on the abdomen, hips, breasts, buttocks, and thighs due to your skin stretching to accommodate that growing babe.

When you look back at your body after delivering a baby you might find some battle scars remaining, and hopefully, you can look at them with pride!

As most moms know, it only gets busier as your child grows!

And your skin might be the last thing on your mind.

How Skin Care is Self-Care

Think back to a time before you had kids and you would get ready for a big outing. Maybe a date, or a dance, or just another summer day. How long did you take? You probably took a nice shower (and maybe even sang while you were in there), shaved your legs, gave yourself a shampoo mohawk, drew pictures on the steamy shower door, and then realized an hour had passed and got out of the shower nice and pruney.

Then you blow-dried your hair, put your makeup on, and changed about 5-6 times until you found the right outfit. Three hours later and you were out the door!

Fast forward to today! You haven’t worn makeup in weeks OR your wearing day’s old makeup (and it still looks pretty good). You *think* you showered two days ago. And your outfit is covered with spit-up, and food (yours and your kids).

This is life! And you are surviving. But what if you could do just one little thing that could make a big difference? Creating a simple skincare routine can do wonders for your mental health.

Research from a 2010 study found that a dedicated skincare routine helped boost confidence, and improved self-esteem, self-efficacy, and overall happiness.

With all this in mind, we went to work creating an incredibly simple and effective Skin Care System for all ages and skin types. One that is simple enough for teens, moms, women, men, and grandparents too. We chose natural ingredients that had clinical backing to give you results, and the glow you want.

The Wink Naturals Simple 3-Step Skin Care Routine (with Advice From an Esthetician)

Step 1: Cleanse

Purity Foaming Facial Cleanser

The natural ingredients in our cleanser assist in removing makeup and dirt without stripping or irritating pores.

Esthetician’s Advice:

Invest in your skin health daily by starting to cleanse with this natural, gentle, and effective cleanser. Preventative care costs much less than damage control. For an even deeper clean, use Purity with a gentle cleansing device.

Step 2: Nourish

Illuminate Power Serum

Upgrade to this one multi-benefit, lightweight serum that penetrates deeper than cream and can help improve your skin’s natural glow and appearance. The use of botanicals works to protect the skin against damaging environmental stressors so you can glow!

Esthetician’s Advice:

This formula is an absolute treat for your skin! When you apply it, let it sit on the skin for a minute before adding moisturizer and take two deep, rejuvenating breaths. This can be your personal mini spa treatment for the day and night.

Step 3: Moisturize

Replenish Hydrating Moisturizer

Natural botanicals are used to help maintain skin’s youthful appearance and as a protection against environmental factors. Hydrating your skin morning and night will help skin keep a youthful appearance.

Esthetician’s Advice:

Moisturize!! The lack of moisturizing is often linked to wrinkles, dullness of skin appearance, and even increased skin oiliness, so DON’T skip this step. When applying, gently massage into skin in an upward and outward motion.

Starting and ending your day with a little skincare/self-care time will do wonders for you, mama!

Forget pregnancy glow, you want forever glow!
