What’s up with our joints?

They are kind of a big deal.

If we relied solely on our bones, we wouldn’t be able to bend. Joints allow us to move with ease. ALL the movements that change the position of our skeleton, take place at the joints.

Like turning your head, swinging your arms, or holding a pencil.

As you age, you will notice your body becoming stiffer and less flexible. This happens as the amount of lubricating fluid inside of your joints decreases and the cartilage becomes thinner. Even your ligaments tend to shorten and lose some flexibility, resulting in stiff joints.

This might come with the groaning as you sit down in your chair, or when you notice it takes more effort to bend over to pick up your kids or grandkids. This is your body “talking to you”.

The good news is that you can start taking care of your joints right now!

Signs You Need To Take Care of Your Joints

It’s easy to take your joints for granted. But when you start noticing issues with your movement and stability, you’ll be ready to make some changes.

Here are a few signs that you need to make your joints a priority.

⚠️ Joint Pain. Nobody likes feeling pain, but we should all be grateful for it. Pain is a way to tell the body that something isn’t right. So, if you’re feeling pain in your knees when you’re walking or in your shoulders as you’re raising your hand, it’s time to think about joint care.

⚠️ Stiff Joints. Stiffness in the morning as you wake up, or when you stand up after sitting for a while.

⚠️ Click, Crack, Grate. These are all sounds that your joints need some attention.

⚠️ You’re overweight. Extra weight can be hard on your entire body, including your knees, joints, and more.

⚠️ You Love High Impact Exercise. Are you a lifelong runner? Or maybe an old soccer player? Then your body has been through some heavy hitting times.

Even if you can’t resonate with any of the signs above, your joints will need some love regardless.
